STEALTH Amendment to Ban Firearms Proposed...

Your immediate help is needed...

Representative Robert L'Heureux (R) from Merrimack has proposed a STEALTH Amendment to HB 1302 that would allow cities, towns, counties, and school districts to ban firearms. Current state law prohibits "political subdivisions" from regulating the "sale, purchase, ownership, use, transportation, licensing, permitting, taxation, or other matter pertaining to firearms, firearms components, ammunition, or firearms supplies."  This law was enacted in 2003 because of attempts to ban firearms at the local level. Rep. L'Heureux claims his amendment is needed to "solve a problem" in Merrimack. We don't buy that line for one second; in fact, statewide "preemption" became law because of anti-firearm owners civil rights activists at the local level. Neither Merrimack nor Bow needs another law to ban firearms; there are plenty of laws already on the books to deal with the rare misuse of a firearm. If the L'Heureux amendment passes, any town in the state would be given the authority to ban the use of all firearms.  If the original bill passes the town of Bow will be the only town in the state where hunting woodchuck, rabbit, squirrel, etc. with a .22 cal rifle would be a crime. Rep. L'Heureux' amendment proposes sweeping changes to firearms law in New Hampshire. His attempt to repeal the excellent "preemption" law we have without even the chance for a public hearing is unconscionable.

He must be stopped.
