It didn't take long.
Emboldened
by the new Democrat majority, Senator Peter Burling, Reps. Lee
Hammond, and John Tholl have introduced a bill, that would change the
New Hampshire Pistol / Revolver License from the "best in the nation"
to "worst in the nation". Senate Bill 44 will make you crawl to a
government bureaucrat for permission to defend your life. SB44
allows bureaucrats to deny you your civil right to

SB44 as introduced lets an
"official"
deny a pistol / revolver license "... to any person the official
reasonably believes to be a member of a terrorist or criminal
organization." The terms "terrorist" and "criminal" organization
are not defined in this bill. Anti-gun officials can arbitrarily
declare any organization, which they dislike, to be a terrorist or
criminal organization. Even worse, you don't actually have to be
a member of, or even to have any connection with, such an
organization. If you are simply suspected of being a member, this
bill's sponsors want to rob you of your civil right to
self-defense.
SB44 does even more damage. It repeals the laws which allow for
the awarding of legal fees when a licensing authority breaks the
licensing laws. You could spend tens of thousands of
dollars in legal fees to convince a judge you were wrongly denied a
license. Currently you can recover your costs from the
"official" who abused you by wrongly denying you your right to
carry. Senator Burling wants to protect abusive officials
against having to reimburse your expenses.
In this nightmare anti-gun scenario,
anti-gun officials will be able to act without fear of being held
accountable for their actions. Imagine if you or I violate a law,
these same folks will most certainly be right there to prosecute
us. If Senator Burling has his way, "officials" who break the law
and deny you your civil right to be armed will face no
consequences. These anti-gun ideologues must be stopped now.
This is only the beginning of the new
majority's anti-gun agenda; we can expect more and more attempts to
make New Hampshire the test state for a broad national anti-gun
agenda. If they can pass this sort of thing in the "Live Free or
Die" state, they can pass it anywhere. Senator Burling's plan is
to systematically, piece by piece, dismantle our freedoms.
