New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc.

On Thursday, March 15, 2007 over 500 law abiding firearms owners traveled to Concord to attend a public Hearing on  SB44.   As we previously reported, see: http://www.nhfc-ontarget.org/2007Alerts/ALERTSB44.html
SB44 would have changed our "best in the nation" concealed carry license to a "worst in the nation" Massachusetts style license.    We are happy to report that the Senate Judiciary Committee voted the bill "Inexpedient to Legislate" with a 5 - 0 vote.   We attribute this vote to your strong showing today!  Many articulate people spoke out against SB44.  Their comments were all sharp and to the point.

The New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc. was represented by Treasurer, Alan Rice, click here to see the video.
Note this is a large file that will take a few minutes to load.

All of you did a great job contacting members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, but we are not out of the woods yet.  The bill now goes to the full Senate where it could be voted "Ought to Pass" in spite of the committee vote of "Inexpedient to Legislate".  Anti gun Senators could even open it for anti gun floor amendments. The bill could come before the full Senate at any time.  Here is how to make sure these anti gun scenarios don't happen.

1) Contact your Senators by email and urge them to vote SB44 "Inexpedient to Legislate" when it reaches the full Senate.  Make it clear that the bill cannot be "fixed".  Tell Senators that you like the current law the way it is.  Explain that there NO ACCEPTABLE votes other than "Inexpedient to
Legislate".   You can use the pre-written message below.

PRE - WRITTEN MESSAGE:

Dear Senator,

On March 15 the Senate Judiciary Committee voted SB44 "Inexpedient to Legislate" by a 5 - 0 majority.   Please vote SB44 "Inexpedient to Legislate" when it reaches the full Senate.   This bill is a solution in search of a problem.   SB44 will make it easy for selectmen or law enforcement to deny a person  their right to carry a firearm based on subjective not objective criteria.   Our current concealed carry law works very well.  Please leave it alone by voting SB44 "Inexpedient to Legislate".

SB44 cannot be "fixed" and I ask you to vote NO on any floor amendments that may be offered.

Please tell me how you intend to vote so I can advise the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc.

Very truly yours,

2) Contact members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and thank them for their vote today to uphold the Second Amendment rights of law abiding New Hampshire firearms owners.
