We have recently received some complaints about our 2008 Primary
Election Guide. This alert will clarify why State
Representative Jason Bedrick
(r- Windham and Salem) received a grade of F which means, "Sponsors & actively promotes
legislation hostile to
2nd Amendment civil rights."
Many readers may remember our efforts
to defeat HB1474 and HB1476 earlier this year. We fought
these bills because we believed then, and still believe now, that they
would have made it easier to close shooting ranges. We
published several alerts on these bills. See:
http://www.nhfc-ontarget.org/2008Alerts/hb1474alert.html
http://www.nhfc-ontarget.org/2008Alerts/hb1476alert.html

At the time State Representative
Jason Bedrick (r- Windham and Salem) took great offense to our alerts
and the direct mail we sent to his district. Rep.
Bedrick clearly does not understand the program and clearly is not an
informed
supporter of Second Amendment Civil Rights. We recently released
our 2008 Primary Election Guide, see:
http://www.nhfc-ontarget.org/Candidates08/PrimaryElectionGuide08.html
In addition to Rep. Bedrick's
sponsorship and promotion of HB 1474, we were made aware of an article
in the July 2008 Philadelphia Jewish Voice wherein Rep. Bedrick is
quoted as saying:
"...if any firing range was doing
damage to the environment, that they
could be shut down temporarily, in order to clean up the
problem..."
Rep. Bedrick is still standing by his "2008 Range Closure Act" saying
that NHFC "totally misinterperted the bill."
The complete article can be read here: http://www.pjvoice.com/v36/36303bedrick.aspx
We
were clear in January, the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition,
Inc. will never agree to even the temporary closure or increased
government regulation of any shooting
range for any reason. Rep. Bedrick does not seem to understand
this. Rep. Bedrick sent us a letter complaining about his
grade of F. The grade of F was arrived at because of the
article in the Philadelphia Jewish Voice, Rep. Bedrick's sponsorship
and subsequent promotion of HB1474 and his 2004 candidate survey
wherein
he expressed support for such things as bans on ammunition magazines,
civil liability for gun owners whose guns may be stolen and used in a
crime. Rep. Bedrick also opposed Vermont Carry. To be
sure that NHFC, Inc. properly understood his views, Rep. Bedrick sent
us a
detailed letter explaining them. We
have reproduced both here
so that firearms owners can decide if Rep. Jason Bedrick is a friend or
foe of firearms ownership and use.
In conclusion, Rep. Jason Bedrick has
earned his F.
