New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc.

January 28, 2008

Dear NHFC Members and Second Amendment Supporters,

It didn't take long for the new Democrat anti-gun majority to flex its muscle at the State House.

Representative Kjellman (d) of Henniker has introduced legislation that would ban firearms in the State House and Legislative Office Building.  These buildings are owned by you, the taxpayer, but Rep. Kjellman wants to disarm you.  She does not trust law abiding people to carry firearms.

House Bill 1354 will not make people safer. It will create a gun free victim rich zone.  Concord will become a preferred place for criminals.  They will know that anyone visiting the State House complex will be unarmed and vulnerable, unable to protect themselves.  When people are forced to leave their self defense firearms in their vehicles, those vehicles and firearms will be targeted for vandalism and theft by criminals trying to arm themselves.

It has been proven, time and time again, that when people are armed criminals suffer from a sudden and acute failure of the victim selection process.  Because ordinary citizens were armed additional tragedy was averted and lives were saved at the Trolley Square Mall in Utah, and the New Life Church in Colorado. We only need to look at Columbine High School, Luby's Cafeteria, and Virginia Tech to see what happens when law abiding people are administratively disarmed: Disaster. Disarming citizens at the State House is a formula for another tragedy.

We know HB 1354 is only the beginning.  If anti-gun zealots in Concord are able to pass HB 1354, they will be emboldened to ban firearms in other places... malls, stores, movie theaters, restaurants, parks, and hotels are only some of the places that will be in their sights.  They will not stop.

It is imperative we stop them in their tracks, NOW! With your help we can.

Here is what you can do to help:

1) Attend the public hearing and express your opposition to HB 1354.
Feb. 5th, 2008 at 10:30 a.m.
Room 104 of the Legislative Office Bldg.
(Directly behind the State House)

2) Send the pre-written message below to Rep. Kjellman at eleanor.kjellman@leg.state.nh.us and Rep. Michael Rollo, the chairman of the Legislative Administration Committee.

3) Become an NHFC member so we can keep you informed.

PRE-WRITTEN MESSAGES:

Dear Rep. Kjellman:

Please reconsider your sponsorship of HB1354.   Banning guns will not make anyone visiting the State House complex safer.  Banning guns and other defensive weapons will only serve to create victims and empower criminals.  Law abiding people have a civil right to defend themselves. Please tell the Legislative Administration Committee that you have changed your mind and that you would like them to vote HB1354 ITL.

Sincerely,

Dear Chairman Rollo:

When HB1354, relative to security in the State House and Legislative Office Building comes before the Legislative Administration Committee please urge the committee to vote the bill ITL.   Banning guns and other defensive weapons will only serve to create victims and empower criminals.  Law abiding people have a civil right to defend themselves.   I would appreciate it if you would make this postcard part of the official record of the hearing on HB1354.  Thank you.

Sincerely,

Up to home
