New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc.

January 9, 2007

Good Evening NHFC Members,

We are happy to report that earlier today, Representative Alfred Baldasaro spoke at a public hearing held by the Municipal and County Government Committee.  He requested that the Committee vote HB1474 and HB1476 "inexpedient to legislate".  Representative Baldasaro made it perfectly clear that after taking a second look at the bills following their introduction, he was not happy with the wording and felt that the issue needed further study.  Representative Baldasaro also stated that his intention was to protect shooting ranges and not shut them down.

Committee Chairman Robert Theberge indicated that the committee will vote the bills ITL.   We will monitor the situation and let you know if anything changes.

Thanks to all of you who called and emailed the sponsors.  If you would like to thank Representative Baldasaro for today's action please click here to email him.

Rep. Baldasaro

State Representative Alfred Baldasaro (R-Londonderry) appears before the County and Municipal Government Committee in Concord, requesting that House Bills 1474-FN and 1476 be withdrawn.  Alan Rice, representing the NHFC, Inc. is seated behind Baldasaro; standing in the rear is GO-NH, Inc. President Mitch Kopacz.  Both organizations opposed these bills.

After the hearing, State Rep. Jason Bedrick (R-Windham) said that he and Baldersaro had mistakenly believed that some who were pushing for these bills behind the scenes, had the knowledge or authority to do so.  The NHFC, Inc. commends both politicians for their swift action in pulling these bills, and looks forward to working closely with them in the future on behalf of New Hampshire's gun owners.
