New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc.

Representatives Gary Hopper, Dan Itse, Laurie Boyce,
Omar Ahern and Harriet Cady ALL Need to Hear From You!

These Representatives have sponsored HB 1190, which - if passed - would turn the NH Concealed Carry License for Pistols and Revolvers into a "Concealed Weapons License" by adding items like knives, daggers, switchblades, blackjacks and brass knuckles to what can be carried by an individual  holding such a license.

Why Should You Oppose HB 1190?

·        NH's current Pistol & Revolver License is one of the best in the nation - it is simple and uncomplicated.  This helps us to obtain Carry License reciprocity with other states.  If NH starts adding unrelated, non-handgun weapons to its Carry License, other states may use this as an excuse to refuse to honor it.

·        Handguns are serial numbered and their sale is very closely regulated by state and federal laws - these other weapons often are not.  Law-abiding gun owners would run the risk of being unfairly associated with knife-wielding criminals by members of the anti-gun media.

·        Potential issuance problems and license fees.  If these other weapons are added, local issuing authorities (police chiefs, selectmen, etc.) may be less inclined to issue licenses to applicants.  It would also provide a convenient excuse for future legislation raising license fees and possibly mandating training and increased documentation for license applicants (i.e. photographs and fingerprinting).

·        Involving the Pistol & Revolver License is simply not necessary.  If Rep. Hopper wishes to allow these items to be carried, he should seek to repeal or amend RSA 159:16 - Carrying or Selling Weapons. - Whoever, except as provided by the laws of this state, sells, has in his possession with intent to sell, or carries on his person any stiletto, switch knife, blackjack, dagger, dirk-knife, slung shot or metallic knuckles shall be guilty of a misdemeanor; and such weapon or articles so carried by him shall be confiscated to the use of the state.

 How you can help!

 1)      NHFC, Inc. urges you to make your voice heard on this important matter.  Please call or write Reps. Hopper, Itse, Cady, Boyce and Ahern and let them know that our NH Pistol and Revolver Carry License should be left alone.  It does not need to be "fixed" by HB 1190.

2)      As always, the NHFC, Inc. reminds you to be polite when  contacting your elected officials.
