WILL YOUR LOCAL SHOOTING RANGE BE SHUT DOWN NEXT????

Coming soon to your shooting range:

·    Lawsuits
·    New restrictive zoning
·    Demands that shooting hours be curtailed
·    Complaints
·    Argumentative neighbors

These things have happened to shooting ranges across New Hampshire, because some people who do not appreciate our heritage of lawful firearms ownership and use have moved into our state.  These transplants may or may not have known about a near-by shooting range when they moved into the area or perhaps did not understand that ranges get daily use.  Their failure to ask questions before buying a new home is not the fault of the local shooting range.  Many ranges have been operating lawfully for decades.  Sadly, when many of these newcomers find the range is active they seek to close it down.  Our state’s population has grown, particularly in the southern part of the state.  There are new attacks on shooting ranges that could not have been predicted in 1987 when the current range protection law was enacted.  Thus, we need a new and strengthened range protection law.

State Rep. Pierre Bruno (R-New Boston) has introduced HB-1309.  This important piece of legislation will protect lawfully operating shooting ranges from persecution by anti-gun neighbors. Rep. Bruno needs YOUR help to get this legislation enacted.  On March 3, 2004 the House Judiciary Committee voted 12-6 to recommend HB 1309 pass with amendment.  The full House voted to pass this important legislation on March 11, 2004.

---- Pre written text to Senators asking for support for HB1309 ----

Dear Senator:

Shortly, the Senate will consider HB 1309, "Range Protection." I urge you to vote for this important Bill, to protect shooting ranges against bankruptcy and shut-down, due to the cost of defending frivolous lawsuits. HB 1309 protects shooting ranges, that have been used for decades. Many hunting, fishing and shooting clubs have bought land and improved their facilities since the 1987 range protection law was enacted. Hunting, fishing, and recreational shooting are a key part of New Hampshire culture. Please help to protect our heritage. Please let me know how you intend to vote, so that I may inform the New Hampshire Firearms Coalition, Inc.

Sincerely,

Up to home
